Singaporean Lawyer Lim Seng Siew joins Centre for Legal Innovation’s Advisory Board
Three international board members provide global perspective on legal disruption
SYDNEY: March 29, 2018: The Centre for Legal Innovation (CLI) today announced the appointment of leading Singapore lawyer Lim Seng Siew to its Advisory Board.
Mr Lim is a member of the Executive Committee of the Law Society of Singapore and has 29 years’ experience in litigation and commercial transactions, with a specialisation in technology-related legal matters.
Mr Lim advises Singapore Government authorities on legal policy in his role as a member of the Executive Committee of the Law Society of Singapore. He has been the CEO of a technology company and Senior Director of the Singapore Academy of Law’s technology cluster.
The appointment of Mr Lim brings the number of international members on the CLI board to three, alongside representatives from New Zealand and the USA.
Ms Terri Mottershead, Director of the CLI, said Mr Lim’s appointment was in line with the CLI’s role as the first organisation in the Asia-Pacific dedicated to studying the impact of innovation on the legal profession.
“With three international board members providing guidance and expanding our network internationally, the Centre is even better able to focus on examining innovation, disruption, legaltech and next practices wherever these are impacting the legal profession.”
“Lim Seng Siew provides a unique perspective on the impact of technology on the legal profession as well as advising on trends within South-East Asian legal practice,” Ms Mottershead said.
Mr Lim said he was excited to join the CLI Advisory Board and looked forward to providing insights into changes occurring within the Singaporean legal profession.
“Legal disruption is a global phenomenon and developments quickly move from one jurisdiction to another. Law firms in Singapore are grappling with similar issues as those in Australia, New Zealand, UK or the USA, so the opportunity exists for lawyers in different countries to learn from each other.”
“The CLI provides a regional platform for the generation and dissemination of ideas to help professionals navigate the disruption currently transforming the industry,” Mr Lim said.
ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR LEGAL INNOVATION
The Centre for Legal Innovation (CLI) was established by the College of Law in 2016. The objective of the CLI is to act as an incubator for new ways to practise that align with the new approaches to legal service and product delivery. Throughout 2018 it will be facilitating opportunities for the professions to discuss and debate the changes taking place in the legal industry, share experience, and find solutions that best support them in remaining competitive in a new and evolving legal marketplace.
